# About Banana Comet

A handful of quick, free tools for turning pictures into jokes.

## What it is

Banana Comet makes memes and captioned pictures. The [meme maker](https://bananacomet.lol/) does classic outlined top and bottom text you can drag anywhere; the [caption meme maker](https://bananacomet.lol/caption-meme-maker/) puts the joke in a plain bar above the picture; the [demotivational poster maker](https://bananacomet.lol/demotivational-poster-maker/) frames it in black under a grand title; [deep fry](https://bananacomet.lol/deep-fry-image/) ruins it on purpose; and [image to sticker](https://bananacomet.lol/image-to-sticker/) cuts out a subject and gives it a white outline.

## How it works

Every tool runs in your browser. Your picture is opened by the browser, drawn onto a canvas on the page and saved straight back to your device, so it never travels to a server. Once a page has loaded, it keeps working without a connection. The fonts and all the code are served by this site; apart from the page-view count described on the [privacy page](https://bananacomet.lol/privacy/), nothing is fetched from anywhere else.

## Fonts and pictures

The caption fonts are open-licence fonts bundled with the site: League Gothic, League Spartan, Tinos and Patrick Hand under the SIL Open Font License, and Luckiest Guy under the Apache License. There is no library of meme templates, because those pictures belong to other people. Instead you get blank colour backgrounds and a sample picture drawn in code for this site. Please use pictures you have the right to use.

## Who runs it

Banana Comet is one of a family of small, free, single-purpose tool sites. It has no accounts, no ads and no watermarks. The footer links to related sister sites and to two services we recommend, CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck.
